Photographs of Wattle Point Wind Farm:
Wind in the Bush

Photography by Dave Clarke. More of my wind turbine photos are on Flickr.

Wattle Point Wind Farm is at the foot of Yorke Peninsula in South Australia.

The images on this page have been compressed for faster loading - this has lead to noticeable loss of quality in some images

Several cameras were used for the images of April 2005, some were scanned from 35mm negatives. The photos of August 2007 were taken using a Canon PowerShot S2 IS 5MP digital camera.

Moon and wind turbine Moon and wind turbine

There is a short period in the morning and evening when the daylight on a turbine is bright enough - and the Moon is bright enough - to get an acceptable image of both.

Multiple exposure Another line-up of turbines

A technique called 'high dynamic range' (HDR) photography, using a combination of three images, each exposed at different levels, allows a more 'correct' exposure of parts of the view that have highly differing illumination levels. In this view the shadows were very dark and the sky near the horizon was very bright.

Wattle Point wind turbines The use of a wide angle lens gives an interesting perspective, and the light is nice.

Turbines in mist Turbines in morning mist

All the turbines are the same colour, the weak, low, sunlight is catching the middle distance towers.
